TIB Mentors Help TSIC Program
(Monroe) TIB Bank has been providing mentors for the Monroe County Schools Take Stock in Children (TSIC) program for over 10 years. TIB firmly believes that it is important for the business community to become involved with students within our school system, giving credence that the community cares and is willing to support them and provide the emotional encouragement students need to become successful in college and in life. Gina Hipson, Monroe County TSIC Student Advocate stated, Mentoring is the key to success for this program and the students. We are extremely grateful that TIB Bank provides one of the largest numbers of mentors through out the county for this program. It is one of the reasons that we have been able to maintain a 100% mentor/mentee match rate, always providing a mentor for each student. Nationwide research shows that if a young person is mentored, they are 52% less likely to skip school, 46% less likely to begin using drugs and 72% less likely to begin drinking.
